City of Cuenca
The Hanging Houses (Casas Colgadas) over the gorge of the Huécar River are famous, a sight that defies gravity and captures the imagination, a symbol of the city and a testament to medieval architecture. Also noteworthy is the Spanish Abstract Art Museum, located in these houses; the Plaza Mayor, with its terraces for snacks; the Cathedral of Santa María and San Julián, a Gothic gem; the Skyscrapers of Cuenca, 15th and 16th- century towers showcasing the city’s fascinating popular architecture; the Mangana Tower, with panoramic views; or the San Pablo Convent, now converted into the Parador de Cuenca.
